How to Care for Sago Palms Sago palms are easy to care for but do require special needs, such as bright light, although they will tolerate low-light conditions. What they will not tolerate, however, is too much moisture. Sago palms prefer to be situated in well-drained soil, and like other cycad plants, they do not respond well to overwatering. In fact, too much water can quickly lead to root rot and eventual death. Therefore, it’s best to allow the plant to dry out some between waterings.

ZZ plant, with its wide, attractive, dark green leaves, boasts many favorable traits for offices and homes. ZZ plant tolerates neglect, is drought tolerant, and accepts low-light conditions without throwing a fit. Its waxy, smooth leaves reflect sunlight and brighten rooms. ZZ usually grows slowly to a height and width of two to three feet so it is not a plant monster that outgrows containers quickly. ZZ plant also is an air purifier and in a NASA study, researchers found it is specifically adept at removing copious amounts of toxins such as xylene, toluene, and benzene from the air.

Dumb Canes are poisonous, however it rarely seriously harms human or animal. All parts of the plant have lots and lots of microscopic needle-shaped calcium oxalate crystals and when some unfortunate animal (or person) chows down, they end up with a painful and swollen mouth.

Dracaena fragrans ‘Massangeana’ (Corn plant) is a highly popular indoor plant. It is usually grown as a series of woody stems with clusters of beautiful foliage on top. Leaves have yellow stripes down the center. Under low light the stripe turns lime green or may even disappear altogether. In bright indirect light, the corn plant may occasionally produce white flowers that are extremely fragrant, especially at night. The scent is delicious but overpowering, so you might find it necessary to remove the flower stalk. This plant is very easy to grow, low light tolerant and also is a strong air-purifier. Excellent choice for your office or home.
