Product Information
Potatoes can be grown in a wide variety of soils, but do best in deep, fertile, well drained loam. Plant in a sunny location and keep soil moist throughout the growing season. Avoid planting in heavy clay soil.
1. Sow seed potatoes as soon as the soil is warm enough to cultivate. Large seed potatoes may be divided, but each portion must contain two to three eyes. Plant with eyes pointing up (cut side down) 8-12 cm (3-5”) deep and 30-40 cm (12-16”) apart in the row. Rows should be 60 cm (24”) apart.
2. Once plants are 20-30 cm (8-12”) tall, hoe 10-15 cm (4-6”) of soil around plants to create hills. Hills of soil around the base of the potato plants help to preserve moisture and protect tubers from being exposed to sunlight which turns them to green.
3. Potatoes may be harvested as soon as tubers are large enough to use. Potatoes must be harvested when tops yellow and die down.
4. Dry potatoes on the ground for 2-3 hours after harvesting (if weather is fine) so skin will harden before storage. Store potatoes in a cool, dark place. Ideal storing temperature is between 3-5º C(35-40º F).

Product Information:
Plant strawberries in a warm sunny location in fertile, well-drained soil that is rich in organic material.
In early spring, place the plants 20-30 cm (10-12”) apart. Make each hole large enough to accommodate the roots and place a mound of earth in the center of each hole. The roots should be pressed firmly into the soil around the mound. Fill the hole, making sure the soil only goes halfway up the crown as a buried crown will rot. Water thoroughly after planting.
Strawberries require plenty of moisture during their growth season, especially during blooming time through to harvest. If plants are not receiving water from rain, provide your plants with 2.5-5 cm (1-2”) of water per week. Pick strawberries with their stems attached (when berries are ripe).
Mulch between plants after planting to keep the soil temperature cool, deter weeds and to keep the fruit off the soil. Straw is a traditional strawberry mulch. Do not use black plastic since it will raise the soil temperature and optimal fruit production requires cool soil.
Tips:
- Remove runners and flowers until July 1st of the first year. Plants may then be allowed to produce fruit.
- Multiple harvests are exhausting on plants and everbearing varieties should be replaced about every 3 years or whenever they seem to slow in vigor. It is recommended to plant a new crop during the second year of production.
- Mulching over the strawberry plants in winter will prevent injury to the crowns. Wait until the temperature drops to approx. -5°C and cover with several inches of straw.
